About Us

The N.H. Rugby Football Foundation is an established 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose principal purpose is to support, encourage, and promote amateur rugby competition in the greater Manchester, New Hampshire area. The Foundation serves to organize and educate youth and amateur rugby teams and players, as well as to engage in fundraising and community projects that work towards achieving its charitable aims, for the benefit of the community.

The Amoskeag Rugby Football Club was founded in 1984 by members of the now defunct Concord Rugby Club. After its formation, Amoskeag moved to Manchester, New Hampshire. Amoskeag currently boasts five programs: Men, Women, Old Boys (over-35’s), Youth, and Rookie Rugby. Its members are comprised of men, women, and youth from the State of New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts.

In 1998, Amoskeag established its U-19 Youth Program. The purpose of the Youth Program was to promote youth sports through the sport of rugby and to facilitate players’ understanding of rugby and instill the values of teamwork, discipline, and academic merit.

In 2008, in the interest of furthering its mission, Amoskeag was approved for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status as a non-profit organization and officially became known as the New Hampshire Rugby Football Foundation. With this, Amoskeag has been successful in its efforts at community outreach and growing the Foundation.

In 2009, Amoskeag expanded its family with the creation and welcoming of its Women’s Program.

Today, all five Amoskeag programs are thriving. Both the Men and Women are highly competitive in Division III of the New England Rugby Football Union. The Old Boys continue to play competitive fall and spring matches. The Youth and Rookie Rugby Programs continue to grow and provide student athletes a structured environment where team and family are emphasized over individual accomplishments.
